Windstock is Brawl Stars Season 53, live now through September 3, 2026, and it is a busy update: a new Mythic support, an entirely new Fusions system stacked on top of last season’s NanoPowers, and an August 4 balance patch that nerfed seven brawlers with only one clear beneficiary. Wendy is the headline name, but she is not the part of this update nobody else has explained yet. Fusions are, and that is where we spend most of this rundown, alongside an accurate read on exactly what the balance patch did and did not touch.

Windstock dates and how it fits Ramen Rebellion

Windstock is the second half of Update 68, "Ramen Rebellion." The first half, Season 52 NanoNoodles, introduced NanoPowers and ran through early August. Windstock, Season 53, went live on August 6, 2026 and runs through September 3, 2026. The seasonal power layer does not reset between the two: NanoPowers you already unlocked in NanoNoodles still work, and Windstock builds Fusions directly on top of them rather than replacing them outright.

Wendy joins the roster

Wendy - Brawl Stars brawlerWendy is the new Mythic support, and she plays nothing like a typical damage pick. She has the lowest base health of any brawler in the game, but her attack shields both herself and an ally on every hit, and her Super drops a turbine that redirects most incoming damage away from her team instead of blocking it outright. She is a brawler you play to keep four other health bars up, not one you play to win a 1v1. For her full kit, current win rate and build recommendations, see Wendy's brawler page.

Getting her free is straightforward during the event: win matches with the Tickets Windstock hands out daily, and 14 Wendy Boxes unlocks her without spending a Gem. Miss the window and she moves onto the Starr Road afterward instead. We cover the full unlock path, box math and the Starr Road fallback in our Wendy unlock guide.

Fusions explained: Windstock’s new mechanic

Fusions are the mechanic nothing else on the site covers yet, and they are the real seasonal system this patch. There are 105 Fusions in total, three per brawler, sorted into four tiers: Baseline, Augmented, Cybernetic and Quantum. You unlock them through Smoothie Drops earned by playing during the season. Once unlocked, a Fusion only exists in matches, exactly like NanoPowers and Buffies before it: it is seasonal power, not a permanent kit change.

The mechanic itself is a real departure from NanoNoodles. In Season 52, you picked one NanoPower mid-match, a deliberate choice you made in the moment. Fusions remove that choice: the game auto-combines two of your three unlocked Fusions at the start of every match, both effects active together, and you do not get to pick which two land. That single change is the strategic point of the whole system. Unlocking only one or two Fusions on a brawler leaves you exposed to a bad random pairing, or worse, a match where the game cannot even fuse two effects because you only own one. Unlock all three on any brawler you play, because every random pairing needs to work, not just your favorite one.

Windstock’s Fusions screen: 105 total, sorted into four tiers, unlocked through Smoothie Drops.
  • 105 Fusions total: three per brawler, across the Baseline, Augmented, Cybernetic and Quantum tiers.
  • Unlocked through Smoothie Drops, earned by playing during Windstock.
  • Two of your unlocked Fusions auto-combine at the start of each match, no mid-match pick.
  • Fusion effects are seasonal, active only while Windstock runs, same as NanoPowers before them.

Smoothie Drops: how you unlock Fusions

Smoothie Drops are Windstock’s seasonal crate, the replacement for NanoNoodles’ NanoDrops, and Supercell built them around one job: handing out Fusion Power. Per Supercell’s own published chances, Fusion Power is the single most common reward in the entire drop table at 23.33% per item, well ahead of anything else in the pool. Read a Smoothie Drop as that delivery system, not a generic loot box the powers just happen to land in.

The full rewards pool: Coins, Power Points, Bling, Credits, XP Doublers, Pins, Sprays, Icons, Skins, Buffies and Fusion Powers. One detail worth knowing before you open any: you do not need to own a brawler to receive their cosmetics from a Smoothie Drop, so a pin, spray, icon or skin for a brawler still locked on your account can still drop.

Each drop does not hand out a single reward, it hands out between one and nine, and the odds are weighted hard toward the low end.

Two lines carry the table: Fusion Power at 23.33% and XP Doublers at 15.56%, the only two rewards over 10%. Every Coins tier, every Power Points tier, every Credits and Bling tier, and every cosmetic sits well under that. That gap is the whole point: on any given item in a drop, you are close to four times more likely to pull a Fusion Power than the next-best currency tier, 20 Bling at 9.11%.

The August 4 balance patch: who got hit

Four days before Windstock launched, Supercell shipped a nerf-heavy balance patch on August 4. Seven brawlers took real base-kit nerfs, Surge took a smaller mixed hit, and a separate wave of buffs landed on a different set of names. Here is what changed, verified against the patch notes rather than a blog’s summary.

BrawlerWhat changedEffect
8-Bit - Brawl Stars brawler8-BitSuper charge 12 to 15 hits, Extra Credits cooldown 15s to 18s, Plugged In move speed 15% to 10%Slower to snowball, weaker at kiting once the Super lands
Crow - Brawl Stars brawlerCrowMain attack damage 380 to 320 per daggerLower poke before the poison even ticks
Damian - Brawl Stars brawlerDamianEmpowered attack 1000 to 800, main attack explosion 500 to 400, speaker damage 800 to 400Loses damage at every stage of the combo
Max - Brawl Stars brawlerMaxSuper charge 14 to 16 hits, Phase Shifter second dash 3s to 2sSlower speed-boost uptime for the whole team
Starr Nova - Brawl Stars brawlerStarr NovaHealth 4000 to 3700, reload 1.4s to 1.6s, Floaty Time duration 10s to 7sSquishier and slower to fire at once
Bolt - Brawl Stars brawlerBoltMax attack damage 1800 to 1520A straight cut to his highest-roll burst
Griff - Brawl Stars brawlerGriffKeep the Changes Star Power spread up 55%Less reliable shrapnel at range
Surge - Brawl Stars brawlerSurgeAttack unload speed 0.4s to 0.47s, Power Shield ammo refund 2 to 1A real but smaller hit, base kit otherwise untouched

Surge is the one worth calling out on its own. The unload speed and Power Shield changes are genuine nerfs, not nothing, but nothing else on his kit moved, so he does not belong in the same bucket as 8-Bit - Brawl Stars brawler8-Bit or Damian - Brawl Stars brawlerDamian, both of whom lost damage at multiple points in their combo. Treat Surge as trimmed, not gutted.

The other side of the patch is a buff wave on Belle - Brawl Stars brawlerBelle, Sprout - Brawl Stars brawlerSprout, Bo - Brawl Stars brawlerBo, Mortis - Brawl Stars brawlerMortis, Rico - Brawl Stars brawlerRico and Penny - Brawl Stars brawlerPenny. The one figure we can confirm with confidence is Sprout’s: his first NanoPower’s main attack size grew from 30% to 40%, a straight buff to how much of the map his hedge covers. Supercell did not publish the rest of this wave with the same numeric detail as the nerf list above, so rather than repeat a blog’s guess, check our tier list for where each of the six sits now, since our win rates already reflect the patch.

Should you grind Windstock?
