Brawler Blast is the September update’s replacement for Starr Road, and it changes the deal: you no longer choose which brawler your Credits unlock, and in exchange every Credit unlock grants guaranteed bonus progression, from a minimum of 1 Power Level up to Power 11 with a Hypercharge. Credit costs per rarity do not change. Everything below comes from Supercell’s official announcement and is live in the game as of September 1.
What is Brawler Blast
Starr Road is gone. In its place, Brawler Blast unlocks a random brawler from a rarity pool: you still save Credits toward a rarity, but the specific brawler that comes out is no longer your pick. In exchange, an unlock with Credits always grants bonus progression on top of the brawler itself, so a Blast opening is never just the brawler alone. It is the headline change of the update; the rest is in our September update roundup.
How it works step by step
- Collect Credits. Costs per rarity are unchanged from Starr Road.
- Open the Brawler Blast screen, which shows the brawler options in the pool.
- Tap, and the options are eliminated one by one.
- Each eliminated brawler drops a random amount of Gem Fragments.
- The Gem Fragments convert into progression for the brawler you end up with: Power Levels, Gadgets, Star Powers, Gears, Hypercharges and Buffies.
- At minimum you walk away with 1 extra Power Level; the best case is Power 11 with a Hypercharge.
Rewards and limits
The announced chances notes set clear caps per opening: at most 10 bonus Power Levels, and at most 1 Gadget, 1 Gear, 1 Star Power and 1 Buffie. Abilities can unlock before the Power Level that normally requires them. And sometimes the Blast changes shape entirely: instead of one random result, you pick 1 brawler from 2 to 4 options and keep all the progression found along the way.
The 1,500 Credits decision
Supercell dropped 1,500 free Credits into the shop on August 29 at 15:30 UTC as compensation, because the update changes which brawler you are collecting for. Their own advice: claim them before the update if you badly want the brawler currently on your Starr Road; save them for after if you do not care which brawler you get, because a Blast unlock carries more progression value. The update landed September 1, so the claim-before window has closed; Credits claimed from now on go through Brawler Blast.
What happens to new brawlers
New brawlers join their rarity pool and can appear in a Blast, but they cannot be prioritized there. The targeted path continues unchanged: each new brawler ships through a release event with its own Brawler Boxes, covered in our New Brawler Event guide. Cosmo is next, in September: see Cosmo: release date and how to get him.
Edge cases, from the official FAQ
- Only one brawler left in the pool: you unlock that one, still with the bonus progression.
- The Credit economy is unchanged: costs per rarity stay exactly what they were on Starr Road.
- A "Credit Rush" occasional event is planned.
